The Dark Side of Snoopy

Today's Peanuts Strip, from 1969, is one of my favorite of Schulz's Sunday strips, which probably says something very bad about me. Maybe I just like seeing Snoopy as depressed as Charlie Brown for a change.

Speaking of which, volume 3 of the "Complete Peanuts" is now out, covering the years 1955-6, and this is where the strip enters its golden age. (The first Lucy/Charlie Brown/football Sunday strip is in there, as is Charlie Brown's first experience at being the "goat" in a baseball game, and many, many strips featuring the "Snoopy dance.".)
