I Still Love To Singa

Jerry Beck has the list of extras for the next Looney Tunes Golden Collection, to be released November 2. (The complete list of cartoons is here.

Highlights include a commentary on Bob Clampett's "The Big Snooze" by animator Bill Melendez (he was an animator for WB in the '40s, and later went on to direct the Charlie Brown specials), various commentaries utilizing Mike Barrier's archives of interviews with the great WB directors and story people, and new featurettes about director Bob Clampett and sound-effects man Treg Brown. (Though he was only billed as "film editor," Brown's primary job from the '30s to the '60s was creating all those unique sound effects that turn up in WB cartoons, and even in WB's live-action movies. When Sal Mineo falls to the ground in Rebel Without a Cause, it's a bit distracting that he hits the ground with the same "crunch" sound effect that Treg Brown created for Wile E. Coyote slamming into a wall.) Also, several "Blue Ribbon" cartoons, which were stripped of their original opening titles and music upon reissue, will have their original titles restored, including "Book Revue" (which was mis-titled "Book Review" in the reissue print).
